artist statement
I am interested in moments of connection and exploring the space and energy within these moments as that is where the mystery is for me. I’m here thinking one thing, and you’re thinking another and how does that show up in what’s happening around us.
In order to make a painting I lean into messages from places that I can’t see but yet somehow need to learn to trust. I start with an idea, and often an image, but rely on gut feelings and intuition to realize the painting in its final form. My process reinforces, as it necessitates, not being afraid of things that are only in my imagination. By allowing myself the liberty to not always know where I am heading I am able to find moments of connection between myself and the painting that ultimately help shape its meaning.
